Plasma Cell Disorders

Amyloidosis and Multiple myeloma

Plasma cell disorders refer to a group of conditions that arise from a type of blood cells called plasma cells. In normal circumstances, plasma cells make antibodies that help to fight off infections and germs. In patients with a plasma cell disorder, however, abnormal antibodies are being produced that can lead to some complications, including organ damage and impaired immunity. The most frequent plasma cell disorders consist of a monoclonal gammopathy of unknown significance (MGUS), multiple myeloma (MM), and amyloidosis.
