Call for the new BHS President and 3 new Board Members

Deadline submission: Monday, 16 December 2024 EOB

On behalf of the Belgian Hematology Society Board, we are pleased to announce the official call for applications for the positions of President and three non-academic Board members.

The current President, Prof. Marc André, will complete his three-year mandate at the conclusion of the 2025 BHS General Annual Meeting (GAM). As per our bylaws, his successor must be a Dutch-speaking BHS member who will assume the role immediately after the 2025 BHS GAM.

"I was really honoured to have the privilege of serving as President of the Belgian Hematology Society. It was a great opportunity to develop projects with colleagues of the board to offer the best hematological care for our patients."

Prof. Marc André, President of the Belgian Hematology Society

As per the BHS statutes, the new President is elected by the General Assembly through a simple majority vote, conducted via a secret ballot before the GAM, during which we will introduce the newly elected President to the BHS community.

In addition, three non-academic Board members will also complete their terms at this time, and we are seeking candidates to fill these advisory roles on our Board. The new Board members must fulfill the following criteria:

  • Two Dutch-speaking and one French-speaking members are required;
  • Candidates must work in non-academic hematology centers in Belgium.

The mandate is for a term of 3 years, which is renewable once. However, no Board member may serve more than 6 consecutive years in this role.

We invite all eligible and interested members to apply for these roles. This is a wonderful opportunity to contribute to the ongoing success and strategic development of the BHS.

How to apply?

Please submit a brief cover letter, including your qualifications and a summary of how you would contribute to the BHS Board, by Monday, December 16th EOB, by sending an email to the BHS Secretariat at bhs@seauton-international.com

More information about the specifics of the roles and the application procedure can be found in this PDF.

Your dedication and involvement are what make the BHS a dynamic and thriving organisation. We look forward to welcoming new leadership and continued excellence as we move into the next chapter of our society’s future.

Warm regards,

The BHS Secretariat
