September turns Red

Join BHS in raising awareness for blood cancers!

This September, the Belgian Hematology Society (BHS) is thrilled to join the global community in marking Blood Cancer Awareness Month with the launch of our campaign #RedSeptember.

The objective? Raising awareness among the general public and political decision-makers about blood cancers, our raising challenges, and to remind people of the importance of equitable access to quality care for all patients.

Priority challenges highlighted by the BHS:

  • Shortage of medicines: 6.5% of essential drugs are currently unavailable in Belgium, affecting everything from antibiotics to chemotherapy.
  • Lack of specialised nurses: Hematology patients require expert care, yet the profession is losing attractiveness, putting future quality of care at risk.
  • Blood and stem cell reserves remain critically low. A call goes out to all citizens: every donation is vital and helps save thousands of lives each year. Our heartfelt thanks to all voluntary donors for their generosity

Hope is real, and scientific progress is here. But without accessible medicines and qualified healthcare workers, these advances will remain meaningless.
